Tried my hand at homemade farmer’s cheese using older raw milk — because around here we’re in our No Waste era. ♻️

I learned the process.
I followed the steps.
I stayed curious.

But sometimes learning looks like:
👉 cheese that turns pink
👉 a smell that says “hard no”
👉 one brave taste… instantly regretted

And you know what? That still counts.

This season is stretching me to:
✨ try new skills
✨ waste less
✨ pay attention
✨ trust my senses
✨ let “failure” teach me

Not every homestead moment is dreamy sourdough and golden butter.
Some are science experiments gone wrong.

And I’m still proud I tried.

Next batch will be better.
Lesson logged. Milk honored. Wisdom earned.

No Waste Broth 🤎

Starting a little “No Waste” series in the Wild Mama kitchen… because it feels so good to stretch the nourishment a little further.

After making beef shanks earlier this week, I saved the bones instead of tossing them. Tonight they went straight into the Instant Pot with:

🥩 leftover beef shank bones
🧅 onion
🧄 garlic
🌿 bay leaves
🌿 Italian seasoning
💧 water

2 hours in the Instant Pot and the whole house smells like slow, old-world comfort.

Rich, mineral-packed bone broth that we’ll use for soups, cooking rice, sipping in mugs, or adding to sauces this week.

This is the kind of kitchen rhythm I’m leaning into more and more lately…
✨ nothing wasted
✨ nourishment stretched further
✨ food made with intention

Crunchy Pantry Hack 🍗

Sometimes the best meals come from making it work with what you’ve got.

Tonight’s fried chicken cutlets happened because I opened the pantry… and realized we were completely out of gluten-free breadcrumbs. 😅

So I improvised the Wild Mama way:

✨ Crushed Boulder Canyon chips @bouldercanyon
✨ Crushed pork rinds @epicbar
✨ A little seasoning
✨ Chicken cutlets fried until golden

And honestly? It might be better than breadcrumbs.
Extra crunchy, full of flavor, and completely gluten-free.

One thing I’m learning on this slow living journey is that nourishing food doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s just about being resourceful and using what’s already in your kitchen.

Less waste.
More creativity.

Today’s little homemaker win: turning old sourdough into fresh breadcrumbs instead of tossing it. 🥖🤍

There is something deeply satisfying about refusing to waste what once nourished us. Crusty ends + a few pulses in my trusty @ninjakitchen Foodi Power Mixer System and boom — golden, rustic crumbs ready for meatballs, meatloaf, crispy chicken tenders… all the cozy things. 🧆🍗

This is the shift we’re making in our home.
Less waste.
More intention.
More gratitude for what we already have. 🌿

I bought a little greenhouse so I could get a head start on spring.
Didn’t secure it before a storm.

She blew over.
Seedlings everywhere.
Garden dreams temporarily crushed. 🌬️🥀

And instead of quitting… I went back to what I know.

Clear egg cartons.
Good soil.
Grow lights in my office.
Simple. Faithful. Slow. 🌿💡

Sometimes “fancy” isn’t better. Sometimes the old-school, nurturing, hands-on way is the way.

Also… my child planted approximately 7,000 tomato seeds in one carton. 🍅😂

He took a breath…
And he did his FAST-Aid technique — the little self-regulation tool I’ve been teaching him that I’ve learning during my FAST NET therapy. 🧠💛

Watching him recognize his feelings in real time and choose a calming strategy on his own?
That’s emotional intelligence.
That’s nervous system awareness.
That’s growth.

Raising kids who know how to return to safety within themselves… that’s the real gift this season. 🎄💖
