Mimosa Flowers, Find Them in your Local Neighborhood

I never thought much of these silly trees growing up.

The flowers are a vibrant pink, little firework.

It wasn’t until the last year, that I realized that these little firecrackers had health benefits.

I was taking a supplement, Mimosa Pudica, and I saw those flowers on the label of the bottle.

That got me to thinking and wondering, is that they same tree that I have in my backyard???

And comes to find out, it is!

A few times last year, we went out as a family to harvest these cute little babies.

They don’t really have much of a fragrance, but used in tea, goodness! The flavor is subtle but, oh so delicious and calming.

I have used the flowers in tea and I have also made a tincture.

I sun dried the flowers on my dehydrator trays and stored them in a vacuum sealed mason jar.

These cute little flowers have such good health benefits.

While I am not a medical health professional, do not take this as medical advice.

Mimosa flowers have a calming and relaxing effect.

Just adding them to tea, with the sweet floral smell and taste, just that is enough to relax the nervous system and help you let go.

I have used the flowers for the last year in my teas but then I was like, I should make a tincture!

I am over making alcohol based tinctures for myself, personally. They are too harsh at times and I have been convicted to not consume alcohol anymore, so I am just trying to stick to it.

I took vegetable glycerin and dried flowers, let them marinate for a few months and this is what I created.

With the life changes coming my way (that’s a whole other story, for another time), I am looking forward to using this tincture and centering myself when life feels a little chaotic.

I will, of course, be leaning on Him above else, but I am also human and my brain can have a mind of its own.

Here are some of the items that I used to make this tincture, or “potion” as my son calls them. 🙂

I was unable to find mimosa flowers online, but I am sure come next spring, you will have no problem finding them in your hood.
